Vision Sunday 2026

Vision Sunday invites the church to seek clarity about who we are, where we are going, what we are doing, and why. Rooted in Hebrews 12:1–3, the message proclaims that the ultimate vision of the Church is Jesus, obsessively, undeniably, and dangerously Jesus. As God’s people, we are called to fix our eyes on Christ, laying aside distractions and running with endurance the race set before us. Our mission flows from this focus: to know Christ and make Him known. Our values—being in community, on mission, and with Jesus—shape everything we do as a family of families. Buildings and bylaws do not define the church, but a people committed to worship, community, and mission centered on Christ. As we pursue God’s call locally and globally, we trust that keeping our eyes on Jesus will sustain us, unite us, and empower us to be forerunners of transformation in our community through the Gospel of Jesus Christ, one disciple at a time.

STUDY GUIDE

  1. Vision Sunday centers around four questions: Who are we? What are we doing? Where are we going? Why?  Which of these do you find most challenging to answer personally, and why?
  2. Hebrews 12 describes the Christian life as a race.  What “weights” or distractions might slow individuals—or the church—from running faithfully?
  3. The sermon emphasizes that “the vision is Jesus.”  What does it practically look like to fix our eyes on Jesus in everyday life?
  4. Why is it important that a church’s mission, vision, and values all point toward the same ultimate goal?
  5. The message says the church is defined by community, worship, and mission, not buildings or structures.  How have you experienced these three in your own faith journey?
  6. What does it mean to be “Jesus people” living in the way of Jesus in today’s culture?
  7. How does knowing we are surrounded by a “great cloud of witnesses” encourage perseverance in difficult seasons?
  8. In what ways can our church better spur one another on when faith feels tiring or discouraging?
  9. How does the church’s vision of transforming the community one disciple at a time shape how we live and serve?
  10. After hearing this message, where do you sense God inviting you to lean in more—community, mission, or worship?
