Spiritual Disciplines ~ Evangelism & Proclamation – How: B.L.E.S.S – Listen

Ever wonder why Jesus frequently retreated to pray before His most powerful ministry moments? Our message today unveils how Jesus’ pattern of retreating before movement holds the key to authentic evangelism. Through vivid examples, from military planning to football huddles, we see how Jesus consistently sought the Father’s presence before every major move. This isn’t just ancient history; it’s a blueprint for our own spiritual impact. Whether you’re seeking direction or longing to make a difference, today we will discover how prayer can transform ordinary believers into powerful witnesses, and how we must repent of trying to go without.

STUDY GUIDE

1 – In Luke 18:35-43, Jesus listens attentively to the blind man, even though He was on a mission with a clear destination. What are some ways you can make more space in your life to truly listen to the needs of those around you, even when you’re busy with your own plans?

2 – The blind man’s faith led to his healing. How does your faith in Jesus impact the way you approach evangelism and sharing the good news with others? Do you believe your faith can be a blessing to others?

3 – Jesus stopped and gave the blind man the dignity to voice his need. In your relationships, do you tend to assume what others need or do you take the time to listen and understand their true needs? How can you practice this more in your own life?

4 – It has been said, “We have two ears and one mouth, so that we can listen twice as much as we speak.” Reflecting on this, how can the act of listening—both to God and to those around you—become a more central part of your evangelistic efforts? How might listening lead to more meaningful connections and opportunities to share the Gospel?

5 – Jesus exemplified a life of service by listening and responding to the needs of those around Him. Who in your life might be waiting for someone to truly hear their story and understand their struggles? What would it look like for you to listen with the heart of Christ and meet them where they are?
