Resurrected Life Here & Now ~ The Present Hope & Call
This Easter sermon emphasizes that Jesus’ resurrection brings not only a future hope but a present “living hope” (1 Peter 1:3). Because Christ is risen, sin’s curse is broken and new life is available now. The message challenges believers to examine whether they are truly experiencing this resurrection power in their daily lives.
A central theme is that resurrection requires death. Just as a seed must die to produce life, believers must die to their old selves, sin, unhealthy patterns, false identities, and self-reliance to live fully in Christ. Jesus’ call to take up the cross is a call to surrender everything that hinders new life.
The sermon warns against reducing the gospel to only a future promise rather than a present transformation. True faith results in real change. Ultimately, it calls each person to ask, “What still needs to die?” so they can experience the fullness of life Jesus offers here and now.

STUDY GUIDE
1 – According to 1 Peter 1:3, what does it mean to be “born again to a living hope”?
2 – Why is it sometimes difficult to hold onto hope in the “in-between” time of life? How does Romans 8:22–23 speak to this?
3 – Peter begins with encouragement rather than commands (1 Peter 1:1–12). Why is remembering God’s grace essential before we focus on our actions?
4 – What is the first piece of evidence that we are living in the hope of Christ? Where has your focus been lately?
5 – What does it mean to “prepare your mind for action” and be “sober-minded” (1 Peter 1:13) in today’s world?
6 – How does pursuing holiness (1 Peter 1:14–16) demonstrate that we are living in the new life Christ has given us?
7 – What does it mean to live with a proper “fear of the Lord”? How is this different from being afraid of God?
8 – The sermon ends with three diagnostic questions:
-
- Where is your gaze?
- Is your life progressing toward Christlikeness?
- What (or who) are you hoping in?
Which of these challenges you most right now, and why?
