National Day of Prayer – Prayer and Worship Night

National Day of Prayer – Prayer and Worship Night

time 6:00 pm

May 7, 2026

Thursday, May 7th, is a special, often overlooked day on our nation’s calendar. It is a special day that happens on the first Thursday of every May in our nation. It is the annual National Day of Prayer, a day when we, as a nation, truly acknowledge the line in our pledge that says we are “One nation under God.”

It is a cry to people across the nation to mobilize in unified public prayer for our nation and its various social structures and institutions. Inviting people to pray for the nation. It exists to communicate with every individual the need for personal repentance and prayer, to create appropriate materials, and to mobilize the Christian community to intercede for leaders, their families, our families, the military, their families, our churches, our schools, our businesses, and even our media outlets. Saturating our very culture with a blanket of prayer, interceding for God’s presence and breakthrough.

This year’s theme verse is from First Chronicles 16:24, “Tell of His glory among the nations, His wonderful deeds among all the peoples.” We intend to do this fully this Thursday evening. The Exeter Prayer House, in partnership with the Church of God of Exeter, will host a National Day of Prayer Worship and Prayer night on Thursday at 6 PM.

This night will be a very simple one, a time to come together and cry out to the Lord in one voice. We will sing praises to God together. We will pray with and for one another. We will take time to lift the aforementioned prayer points of our government, families, military, churches, schoolers, businesses, and media. We will even pray some more. All in all, it will be a special night set apart to come and dwell in the presence of God together as one family, God’s family, and we invite you to come and join us in it.

Even if you cannot physically come and join us in prayer, we invite you to pray from where you are, along with us—lifting to the Lord petitions, requests, and intercessions for all the aforementioned subjects and more, as the Lord would lead you. As we all come together with one voice with our brothers and sisters around our nation, we cry out to the Lord.

Let us join together in prayer on this special day, magnifying the name of the Lord and lifting our nation, its institutions, its people, and our families. The Church of God of Exeter is located at 246 W. Chestnut St. on the corner of Chestnut and H. The prayer and worship gathering will be in the large Multi-Purpose Building next to the Old Chapel on the corner.
